Message from the CEO

A historic fruit wholesaler established in 1965 that is highly regarded in Japan, especially by professional pastry chefs

Arrows is a fruit wholesaler founded in Japan in 1965 (Shōwa 40). Based at the Tokyo Metropolitan Central Wholesale Market, Ota Market, which boasts the largest volume of fresh produce handled in Japan. Over the years we have built strong relationships with reliable producers, market receivers, and wholesalers. Our experts with a wealth of experience (all staff, including the CEO) provide personalized support to each customer. In addition, the company manages a fruit-based confectionary store for which it uses its own products, and therefore it is also familiar with the buyers' perspective. As a result, we have earned high praise from many customers in Japan by delivering truly delicious fruit that is based on carefully selected products and that is particular about taste, quality, and seasonality.

High potential for made-in-Japan fruit overseas, but room for improvement

Japanese fruits are considered to be of high quality, even by global standards, and are highly valued overseas. As a result, the volume of exports from Japan is increasing every year. However, we often see Japanese fruits being sold in a condition that is far from fresh and at very high prices at local department stores and shopping malls overseas. We strongly feel that if we were to team up with local partners we would be able to provide these products overseas with the same freshness and original high quality as they are sold in Japan.

Our strengths in overseas markets

Because we are based at the Tokyo Metropolitan Central Wholesale Market, Ota Market, which is adjacent to Haneda Airport, Tokyo Bay, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Express Way, we are able to guarantee freshness during the overseas transportation process when providing products to local buyers overseas. We are able to achieve this structure by working together with partners who excel in overseas transportation. In addition, even when sending goods overseas we will provide extensive support with the product handling and procedures to ensure that our partner buyers can procure goods with a peace of mind, in similar fashion as we support our customers in Japan. As an added value, we believe that we are able to deliver seasonal fruits to our overseas partners, allowing them to experience the four seasons, which are a part of Japanese culture.

The CEO's thoughts

One of my main goals is to eliminate the growing shift away from fruits in Japan. I would like more people to enjoy the world-class fruits that Japan is proud of, and want to promote them not only in Japan but also around the world. To this end, I want to put more effort into focusing on overseas markets and spread the excellence of made-in-Japan fruits in various ways in the future.

Voices of the Customers

Sweets Garden Ajiki Co., Ltd. (Sweets Garden Yuji Ajiki)

President and CEO Yuji Ajiki

In running a confectionery store, it is very reassuring to be able to stock the best seasonal fruits with confidence. Thanks to the efforts of the president and all of his staff, we are able to create fresh and delicious cakes using the best strawberries, apples, pears, and Shine Muscat grapes available at the time of the season. The taste, freshness and appearance of the fruits are particularly excellent, and we trust them because they always deliver high quality fruit compared to other suppliers. Another attractive feature is that they are able to flexibly respond to requests, as the response from order to delivery is quick and communication with the president and delivery staff is smooth. Thanks to their support we are now able to offer a wide range of seasonal shortcakes and tarts, and our customers have been very enthusiastic, saying, "The fruit is so delicious!"

Executive Chef Daichi Watanabe

We purchase seasonal fruits throughout the year, and we can rest assured that the taste and quality remains consistent and that they are always delivered in the best condition. The taste and freshness are excellent, and the appeal is that only high-quality fruits are used. In the past, we purchased from other companies after considering the prices, but the quality was inconsistent and we were experiencing losses. However, by using high-quality fruit, customers are more likely to repeat their purchases, and they have come to realise that the product is worth more than the price asked. It is used for all kinds of cakes, as well as jams and danishes, and has become a popular seasonal item. Customers say, “Anneau's strawberries are sweet and delicious! The fruit tarts are exquisite!” and we are very happy to be able to receive such positive feedback from our customers.

It is truly amazing that, even though we are located in Okinawa, they are able to deliver seasonal fruits with the highest freshness and quality. For the selection of fruits that are to be used in cakes and gelato, we can trust that they will suggest the best ones for our cakes from a wide variety of seasonal fruits. In addition, the quick response of same-day ordering and delivery to Okinawa by noon the next day, meaning that cakes can be made on a schedule comparable to that of a cake shop in Tokyo, is truly a miraculous support system. Our customers are impressed by our seasonal cakes, saying, “I didn't know there was such delicious seasonal fruit!" and our recognition as a cake shop with a sense of the seasons is spreading.

Voices of the Producers

Tomita Farm

Mr. Masaaki Tomita

We produce Violette de Solliès black figs, King yellow-green figs, bergamots, satsuma mandarins and sweet potatoes. While striving to produce fruit with high sugar content we face the challenges of the growing of crops being affected by weather conditions, and therefore work daily to improve our cultivation techniques. Continuing to cultivate our produce as usual may seem easy but it is actually quite difficult. However, by continuing to pursue quality, we have the pleasure of delivering the best fruits to our customers. We hope to continue growing together and providing our customers with delicious fruits.

Blueberry Farm SUZUKI

Mr. Takuya Satou

In order to cultivate the best blueberries suited to Chiba Prefecture's climate, we have tested and cultivated over 60 varieties and only grow the varieties that were carefully selected. Furthermore, by utilizing grafting techniques that combine rootstocks and scions, we are able to produce large, fragrant, and delicious blueberries. In particular, pruning is done more intensively than usual and harvesting is reduced in order to concentrate the sweetness and grow large, richly flavoured berries. The farm's “Denise” are characterized by their large size, thin and soft skin, and aroma. It has an exquisite balance of refreshing acidity and sweetness, and is well-received by many customers. We will continue to pursue quality and deliver delicious blueberries.
